VICTORVILLE, Calif. — October 31, 2026. Victorville’s city-operated homelessness support center reached its 300th client transition to permanent housing in September, according to a municipal announcement highlighting the program’s results.
In a September 29, 2026 news release, the city described how a veteran who had faced serious medical challenges and years without stable housing became the center’s 300th participant to secure permanent housing. The city identified the veteran only by a first name and initial; California58 is not expanding on identifying personal details unnecessarily.
What the Wellness Center provides
The facility opened in December 2023 as a non-congregate navigation center. Unlike a traditional large group sleeping arrangement, its model provides interim housing combined with assistance from caseworkers, healthcare and recuperative-care services. The city says the center is operated by Symba.
People entering the program may need help obtaining identification, health and benefit documentation, or connections to permanent housing. In the city’s reported example, support from a Veterans Affairs caseworker helped the veteran reach housing.
What the numbers do and do not show
The city says local unsheltered homelessness fell by 68% over two years and overall homelessness by 28%, citing San Bernardino County’s point-in-time count. Those figures describe changes reported by the government; a point-in-time count is a snapshot, and the data alone do not prove that one single program caused the entire decline.
Likewise, 300 permanent-housing transitions are a program outcome, not a claim that homelessness has been eliminated in Victorville.
Where to learn more
People seeking assistance can contact the city’s homelessness and community services through Victorville’s official website. Program availability, eligibility and referrals should be confirmed before promising a client a bed or housing placement.
